Hey there.

Abiding Lifestyle

February 23 | Discipleship Guide

Be Real Together:

Take a few minutes to catch up, tell stories, and laugh together. Trust and friendship take time to build. If you’re launching a new DG, one person should tell their story — what do we need to know about you? Next week, have another person in your DG share their story.

Read Together: John 15:1-5 CSB

This week, we explored what it means to abide in Christ. Jesus describes Himself as the true vine, reminding us that we are completely dependent on Him for spiritual nourishment and fruitfulness. If we are to live an abiding lifestyle, we need a perspective shift, community support, and intentional rhythms that keep us connected to Him. Without Him, we can do nothing—but in Him, we will bear much fruit.

The One Question:
Ask this question at your family meal or Discipleship Group.

What does abiding in Christ look like for you right now, and where do you sense Him calling you to deeper connection?

Grow Together:
Use these questions to go deeper with your DG or for personal study.

  1. You need to know your purpose.
    • You were created by God, for God, to know and enjoy God, and to remain connected to God. Have you thought about your purpose this way before? Where are you struggling most—knowing God, enjoying God, or remaining connected to Him?
  2. You need to know your people.
    • Jesus never intended for us to walk alone. Who in your life has permission to challenge your thinking, encourage you, and point you to Jesus? Have you given anyone that place in your life?
  3. You need to have a plan.
    • Just as a trellis supports a vine, we need rhythms and practices that support our spiritual growth. Pastor Sean shared a few spiritual practices that help us abide:
      • Meditating on Scripture
      • Silence and Solitude
      • Weekly Sabbath
      • Rule of Life
    • Do you currently have any spiritual practices in your daily rhythm? Which of these could you try this week? Where do you need encouragement and accountability in practicing an abiding lifestyle?

Pray Together:

Take time to pray with and for each other.

Suggested Prayer Prompts:
  • Thank God for the purpose He has given you—to know, enjoy, and remain connected to Him.
  • Pray for a deeper sense of community and the courage to invite others into your journey.
  • Ask God to help you create space for abiding in Him through intentional spiritual practices.
