Where Is Your Faith?
February 16 | Discipleship Guide
Be Real Together:
Take a few minutes to catch up, tell stories, and laugh together. Trust and friendship take time to build. If you’re launching a new DG, one person should tell their story — what do we need to know about you? Next week, have another person in your DG share their story.
Read Together: Matthew 17:14-23 CSB
This week, we explored a moment when Jesus healed a demon-possessed boy after His disciples were unable to. Jesus rebuked their little faith and reminded them that even faith the size of a mustard seed could move mountains. But the key isn’t just having faith—it’s where we place it. Faith in an outcome will always leave us disappointed, but faith in Jesus is secure. He calls us to shift our trust from ourselves to Him, recognizing that we are in a real spiritual battle. The power to overcome doesn’t come from us—it comes from total dependence on God.
The One Question:
Ask this question at your family meal or Discipleship Group.
Where in your life do you need to stop relying on your own strength and start depending fully on Jesus?
Grow Together:
Use these questions to go deeper with your DG or for personal study.
- Jesus rebuked the disciples for their “little faith” (Matthew 17:20). What do you think He meant? How can we cultivate a faith that depends on God rather than our own ability?
- Sometimes, we put more faith in an outcome than in God Himself. How do we recognize when we are doing this, and what does it look like to trust God even when things don’t go as we hope?
- Jesus acknowledged that spiritual battles are real. How can we be more aware of the spiritual battles in our lives, and what are practical ways we can stand firm in faith?
Pray Together:
Take time to pray with and for each other.
Suggested Prayer Prompts:
Suggested Prayer Prompts:
- Ask God to deepen your faith and dependence on Him, not just in times of crisis but daily.
- Pray for spiritual awareness, that you would recognize and stand firm against anything that draws you away from God.
- Lift up any struggles or uncertainties, trusting that God is at work even when you can’t see the full picture.
