Hey there.

Lord, Help Me!

January 26 | Discipleship Guide

Be Real Together:

Take a few minutes to catch up, tell stories, and laugh together. Trust and friendship take time to build. If you’re launching a new DG, one person should tell their story — what do we need to know about you? Next week, have another person in your DG share their story.

Read Together: Matthew 15:21-31 CSB

This week, we explored the faith of the Canaanite woman who cried out to Jesus, “Lord, help me!” Despite cultural barriers and Jesus’ initial response, her persistent faith demonstrated a desperate trust in His power and mercy. The story challenges us to examine our own hunger for God, reminding us that faith grows in desperation and dependence on Him.

The One Question:
Ask this question at your family meal or Discipleship Group.

What does it look like for you to cry out, “Lord, help me!” in your current season of life?

Grow Together:
Use these questions to go deeper with your DG or for personal study.

  1. The Canaanite woman persisted in her faith, even when it seemed Jesus might turn her away. How can we cultivate a similar faith that refuses to give up in the face of obstacles?
  2. Reflect on a time when you felt desperate for God. How did that season impact your relationship with Him?
  3. What unexpected ways has God shown up in your life? How can you better recognize His work in the mundane or challenging moments?

Pray Together:

Take time to pray with and for each other.

Suggested Prayer Prompts:
  • Ask for a deeper hunger for God and the courage to cry out to Him in every situation.
  • Pray for hearts that are open to seeing God at work, even in unexpected places.
  • Lift up any specific areas of desperation group members are experiencing, asking for God’s provision and presence.
