From Earth Bound to Spirit Led
January 5 | Discipleship Guide
Be Real Together:
Take a few minutes to catch up, tell stories, and laugh together. Trust and friendship take time to build. If you’re launching a new DG, one person should tell their story — what do we need to know about you? Next week, have another person in your DG share their story.
Read Together: Matthew 14:1-21 CSB
This week, we explored two contrasting ways passion can influence our lives. Through the story of Herod, we see passion channeled in unhealthy ways, leading to fear, sin, and destruction. In contrast, Jesus channels passion into compassion and service, demonstrating the power of a Spirit-led life to heal and provide, even in challenging circumstances.
The One Question:
Ask this question at your family meal or Discipleship Group.
How can you channel your passions to align with God’s purposes and bring His Kingdom to your daily life?
Grow Together:
Use these questions to go deeper with your DG or for personal study.
- Herod allowed his passions to lead him into sin and poor judgment, while Jesus used His for compassion and ministry. What can you learn from their examples about channeling your own passions?
- Reflect on a time when you relied on your own strength but fell short. How can inviting the Holy Spirit into your challenges change the outcomes?
- Jesus invited His disciples to participate in the miracle of feeding the 5,000. How can you be a conduit for God’s Kingdom to invade earthly circumstances in your life?
Pray Together:
Take time to pray with and for each other.
Suggested Prayer Prompts:
Suggested Prayer Prompts:
- Ask God for discernment to channel your passions into Kingdom-building rather than self-serving purposes.
- Pray for a deeper reliance on the Holy Spirit to live a Spirit-led life that reflects Heaven meeting Earth.
- Bring up specific needs in your Group and invite God’s presence to meet those challenges.
