A Legacy of Discipleship
September 1 | Discipleship Guide
Be Real Together:
Take a few minutes to catch up, tell stories, and laugh together. Trust and friendship take time to build. If you’re launching a new DNA, one person should tell their story — what do we need to know about you? Next week, have another person in your DNA share their story.
Read Together: 1 Corinthians 4:14-17 CSB
This Sunday, Pastor Andrew taught abut creating a Legacy of Discipleship and our essential role in it. He highlighted Paul’s teaching to the Corinthians (4:14-17), where discipleship is portrayed as spiritual parenting rather than mere instruction.
We explored the life of Daniel as a prime biblical example of discipleship. Despite facing trials, Daniel’s faith was steadfast due to his identity in YHWH. He kept his unwavering faith by keeping consistent practices and disciplines.

The One Question:
Ask this question at your family meal or Discipleship Group.
What are some of the differences between teaching a disciple and parenting a disciple?
Grow Together:
Use these questions to go deeper with your DG or for personal study.
1. Paul makes it clear that discipleship is for the whole community…
Is there someone in your life who has been, or who you would like to ask to be, your spiritual parent?
Is there someone you could be a spiritual parent to?
2. Daniel’s life shows us how important it is to have spiritual practices that define our lives…
What spiritual practices do you model in your life?
Are there other practices you would like to model?
3. Andrew spoke of the relationship between discipleship and identity, by definition a disciple is someone who finds their identity in Christ…
What does it mean to specifically find your identity in Christ?
