Jesus is Greater

Be Real Together:
Take a few minutes to catch up, tell stories, and laugh together. Trust and friendship take time to build. If you’re launching a new DNA, one person should tell their story — what do we need to know about you? Next week, have another person in your DNA share their story.
Read Together: Matthew 12:38-45
In Matthew 12:38–45, some of the scribes and Pharisees approach Jesus and ask him for a sign to prove his authority. Jesus responds by saying that only the "sign of Jonah" will be given to them, referring to his upcoming death and resurrection. He rebukes them for their lack of faith and warns them of the consequences of their unbelief.
The One Question:
Ask this question at your family meal or DNA.
Have you ever asked God for a sign in your life? If so, what was that experience like for you? How did you discern whether the sign you sought was from God, and how did it impact your faith or decision-making process?
Use these questions to go deeper with your DNA or for personal study.
- How can we apply the principle of faith demonstrated in Jesus' response to the scribes and Pharisees to our own lives today? In what areas of our faith journey might we struggle with doubt or the desire for signs and confirmation?
- Jesus emphasizes the importance of filling oneself with good in order to guard against evil influences (verse 45).
How can we practically apply this principle in our lives today? Examine your heart, what habits or practices do you do to help fill yourself with good and strengthen our spiritual resilience?
3. Jesus warns about the consequences of a heart that remains empty and unrepentant (verse 45).
How does this warning resonate with you personally? In what ways can we guard our hearts and cultivate a spirit of repentance in our daily lives?
