Persecution: Then and Now

February 25 | DNA Guide

Be Real Together:

Take a few minutes to catch up, tell stories, and laugh together. Trust and friendship take time to build. If you’re launching a new DNA, one person should tell their story — what do we need to know about you? Next week, have another person in your DNA share their story.

Read Together: Matthew 10:16-31

In this passage, Jesus trains his disciples for their future mission of spreading the Gospel worldwide. This task will come with great challenges—they will be hated, persecuted, and even lose their lives, yet Jesus equips his followers with the mindset needed to endure and remain faithful.

The One Question:
Ask this question at your family meal or DNA.

What assurances and promises from Jesus in Matthew 10:16-31 give us strength and resilience
in the face of persecution?
Use these questions to go deeper with your DNA or for personal study.
1. Have you personally encountered opposition or persecution because of your faith?
2. How can we apply Jesus' instruction to be wise as serpents and innocent as doves in navigating
persecution?
3. How does Jesus encourage his disciples not to fear in the face of persecution?
4. How can the message of Jesus sometimes cause division even within families or communities?
5. How can we support and encourage one another as we face challenges and persecution for
following Jesus?

Pray Together:

Take time to pray with and for each other.
