Disciples are Sent

February 18 | DNA Guide

Be Real Together:

Take a few minutes to catch up, tell stories, and laugh together. Trust and friendship take time to build. If you’re launching a new DNA, one person should tell their story — what do we need to know about you? Next week, have another person in your DNA share their story.

Read Together: Matthew 10:1-15

The One Question:
Ask this question at your family meal or DNA.

In this sermon, Andrew overviews  the missional teachings of Jesus in Matthew 10, exploring the call to heal, preach, and drive out demons with pure motives, found in obedience to Christ. We address the complexities of expressing our faith amidst cultural definitions of tolerance and the many different gospels that are incoherent with the Gospel of Jesus. We see that true mission comes firstly and foremost from intimacy with Jesus. Secondly we learn mission isn't something we do, it's something God is already doing, but we get the opportunity to join him in it.

How do you see God at work in the world around you, and how can you join Him in that mission?

Use these questions to go deeper with your DNA or for personal study.
1. Reflecting on Matthew 10, where Jesus empowers His disciples to heal and preach without financial gain, how can we ensure that our motivations for ministry are aligned with this teaching?

2. In the sermon, the challenge of living faithfully  in a world with conflicting ideologies is addressed. How can we, as Christians, navigate these other false gospels while maintaining the exclusive truth claims with the Gospel of Jesus?

3. Considering Jesus' instructions to His disciples in Matthew 10, what does true discipleship look like in our modern context? Discuss the balance between being missional and personal character development.
