Kingdom People Rest Well

January 28 | DNA Guide

Be Real Together:

Take a few minutes to catch up, tell stories, and laugh together. Trust and friendship take time to build. If you’re launching a new DNA, one person should tell their story — what do we need to know about you? Next week, have another person in your DNA share their story.

Read Together:  Matthew 12:1-8

The One Question:
Ask this question at your family meal or DNA.

God created humans to join him in the gift of working and resting. When looking at Genesis 1 & 2 we see humans were created to work from a place of rest. When we don’t rest well we end up twisting God’s intent for work which inevitably leads to us twisting his gift of rest. Which of these good gifts do you struggle to honor in your life?
Use these questions to go deeper with your DNA or for personal study.
  1. How does the practice of Sabbath challenge our modern understanding of productivity and work-life balance? Reflect on Jesus' example and teaching in Matthew 12:1-8 and discuss how we can apply this to our lives today.
  1. Jesus declared Himself as the "Lord of the Sabbath" in Matthew 12. What does it mean to find our identity and worth in Christ, rather than in our accomplishments or labor? Discuss how embracing this truth can transform our approach to work and rest.
  1. Discuss the importance of delighting in Jesus as an essential component of observing the Sabbath. How can we avoid the pitfalls of legalism and liberalism in our Sabbath observance, and instead focus on worshiping God with genuine hearts?
  2. Consider how the concept of Sabbath as a divine blessing can impact our community life. How can we support each other in finding rest and balance, and what might this look like within our church family?

Pray Together:

Take time to pray with and for each other.
