The Kingdom is Upon Us - Faith Finds Jesus

October 29| DNA Guide

Be Real Together:

Take a few minutes to catch up, tell stories, and laugh together. Trust and friendship take time to build. If you’re launching a new DNA, one person should tell their story — what do we need to know about you? Next week, have another person in your DNA share their story.

Read Together:  Matthew 9:18-31 CSB

In these verses, we see Jesus perform three more miracles that demonstrate the power of faith in Christ. In these examples he also shows compassion and his willingness to be interrupted by desperate people. First his dinner was interrupted by a synagogue leader who believes that if Jesus touches his dead daughter, she will live. On his way to the leader’s home he is interrupted by the bleeding woman who touched the hem of his robe. Jesus’  touch, in response to their faith, heals the woman and raises the girl back to life. In the third example, the blind men also display their strong faith by following Jesus, desperate for healing. They are healed after declaring their belief and acknowledging him as Messiah, but then they immediately disobey him.
Faith is defined as trust. To follow Jesus, we must trust him, confess that He exists and is the only one who can save us.

The One Question:
Ask this question at your family meal or DNA.

Why did the disciples of John the Baptist question Jesus about fasting in Matthew 9:14-17?

Grow Together:
Use these questions to go deeper with your DNA or for personal study.

1. What can we learn from the ruler's faith journey, from his initial approach to Jesus to witnessing the miraculous healing of his daughter?
2. What do you think Jesus meant when he said the girl was "asleep" rather than "dead"?
3. How might the woman's courage in approaching Jesus be an example of faith in action?
4. In verse 30, Jesus warns the blind men not to tell anyone about their healing. Why do you think he did this, and how does it relate to his overall ministry?
5. How does this passage highlight the importance of personal encounters with Jesus in our faith journey?

Pray Together:

Take time to pray with and for each other.
